Chelsea CP #1
Friday, January 19th, I met Soud for the first time. We met at Starbucks and spent two hours getting to know each other over coffee and hot chocolate. I learned that he wants to study engineering in America, however, as a child he wanted to be a lawyer. Because I am a law student, this was a great talking point for us.
Throughout our conversation, I was surprised by the extent to which Soud doubted his speaking abilities. While I have studied a foreign language and do recall having issues with confidence while speaking it, I don't remember being as doubtful in myself as Soud is in himself. This is particularly surprising to me because his speaking skills in English are much better than mine have ever been in my second language.
