I met with Saeed, who is a student from Kuwait. His English was very good. We took the first tutoring session as a time to get to know each other and understand our expectations from the tutoring sessions. Saeed wants to improve his writing and fluency using different tenses so that he will feel confident writing essays for his examination. Saeed specifically brought up past perfect and past continuous. He wants me to prepare explanations and more in-depth information about these two tenses for our next sessions. Saeed also wants me to correct his tenses while we are speaking. So as we were getting to know each other, we would stop to correct and analyze his speaking mistakes. He often has trouble with conjugating different verb tenses, and using the correct articles.
