I met with Khaled and we walked together to Dunkin Donuts to get some coffee. We talked a bit about Icerde, the show he recommended. I couldn't find an episode with English subtitles, but I read the whole summary on Wikipedia, so we could still converse.
He jotted down unfamiliar words this time too, such as "conscription", which is a very low frequency word (we were talking about ROTC on campus), or more high frequency words such as "leap" and "monumental". Next to the words we wrote down simpler synonyms. He taught me how to write my name in Arabic, which was really cool!
I asked him if he has explored the campus yet, but he said he only went to the library or Landis Green. I told him about International Coffee Hour and how they feature a different country's cuisine every time and he got very excited! We are meeting again this Friday so we can go together. The ASLC is near the Globe, so maybe we could play video games there afterwards.
