Chelsea TS #5

Today, I had planned to test Do-jun on the high frequency vocabulary I assigned him. However, he did not get the chance to study them. Additionally, I had asked him to send me an email telling me about his weekend; I wanted to get a feel for any struggles with grammar he might have. Unfortunately, he forgot about this too. No big deal! I just asked him to write a very short essay describing one of his favorite places. I gave him a very bare outline and a 15-minute time limit. Upon completion, I very briefly read the essay (as I did not want to waste too much of his time). At first glance, his grammar is actually quite good! He did incorrectly use conjunctions a few times. He also used simple past tense when present perfect would have been more appropriate. Other than that, he just needs to expand his vocabulary. Hopefully, he can find time to review the ten vocabulary words assigned from last session. Before our next Skype meeting, I will prepare grammar exercises on coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, and present perfect tense verbs.
