My second session with Saeed was very productive. We went over the differences between the past continuous tense, the past perfect tense, and the past perfect continuous tense. I found these amazing handouts and worksheet activities online and brought them for us to do together. When I was able to slowly breakdown and compare/contrast the differences between the tenses, he developed a better grasp. It seemed like Saeed really improved his understanding by seeing lots of example sentences of each tense side by side. The worksheets used all the different past tenses and required the student to choose the right tense to complete the sentence. At first, Saeed had a hard time picking out the right tense but by the end of the session he was able to complete the worksheets without any trouble! When I explained the rationale behind each tense, it was a lot easier for him to complete the worksheets.
