This morning I met with Dojun on Skype. We spent the entire session just talking about his recent trip to Japan with his mother this past weekend. He said it was a lot of fun, and they ate a lot of great food. He basically just walked me through what they did each day and where they went. They went to 3 different cities, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. He told me the price of the hotels they stayed at, as well as the cost of transportation and meals. This was really beneficial to me, because it allowed me relate it to if I went on a vacation to a different state here in the US. He also mentioned the air travel times, and how long it took to get from one city to another by bus or subway. He talked about what he liked in each city, as well as some of the things he didn't like. He said he loved the food and the atmosphere for the most part, but he said that Osaka was very very crowded and he didn't like that. He mentioned that shopping is very popular in Osaka, and there are huge shopping centers there. Him and his mom tried to go shopping one of the days, but they gave up because it was just too crowded and they couldn't move around anywhere. He said Kobe was definitely his favorite, and he really loved the city life and atmosphere there. Kyoto he said was more traditional, with many temples and original style Japanese buildings. He said the atmosphere there was really enjoyable as well, because it felt so tratitional and it felt like he was living in the past. I really enjoyed having this conversation with Dojun, because it provided me with so much information about what it's like to travel around Japan and what a few of the different cities are like. It definitely encourages me to travel there and explore some of these cities at some point. Maybe when I move to South Korea I will take a similar vacation to his, and I will have this information to reference back to when trying to plan it out.
