I met with Fahad in the coffee lounge to catch up. He showed me pictures of the Olympics Day event that CIES threw for its students. He seemed tired because of finals, and shared his thoughts about his experience so far in America. He arrived in January, and I think he is going through cultural fatigue, as described in one of our classes. He felt that he was not improving as much as he would like, but I mentioned that the short months we've talked, he has grown more confident and proficient in speaking! I hope that he gets over his cultural fatigue and regains some motivation! He seemed too hard on himself. I told him that he knows more languages than I do, and that learning any language will have its challenges.
We made plans to go to International Coffee Hour next Friday. I'm excited!
