     This was my first tutoring session with Susan. It was a great opportunity to get to know her a little and assess her strengths and weaknesses. After our basic introductions, I asked her what she struggles with and what areas she needs help in. She told me that she has issues with speaking and listening. She also mentioned that she struggles with tenses. In order for me to get a better sense of her grammatical weaknesses, I had her tell me more about herself and why she decided to come to FSU to study English. When she made larger grammatical mistakes, such as using the wrong tense, I corrected her and explained what the write way to say it is. I noticed that she also had issues with subject/verb agreement, so that was something I made a note of to work on in our next session. I also told her a little bit about myself and was able to assess her listening skills by the clarification questions she asked me.
