I've really enjoyed getting to know Susan better and seeing her English improve. I already feel like we're becoming great friends! Every time we meet, we share how our weeks are going. It is a great way for her to practice her speaking and listening in a realistic situation. Today, we worked on subject/verb agreement, which is a problem I have been noticing that Susan has. I gave her examples such as: he moves, she moves, it moves, they move, we move. I then tested her verbally by starting a sentence with a subject and letting her complete it, just to make sure she comprehended the information. Then, we worked on Susan's listening skills by watching a lecture I found on YouTube. We watched it twice, and I had her take notes. She asked me about the meaning of certain words and wrote them down in her notebook. Then, I had her write a summary of the lecture we watched. I graded it first for fluency and then for grammar. She has improved at getting her point across, but I can tell that she is still really struggling with her grammar.
