Trisha TS #10

During this session, Turki and I continued to work on his writing outline. I find it difficult to teach him because I don't know what his writings look like to understand his level and what he should aim for. I asked him to see some of his writings so I could get a better idea of his level, but he didn't have any, so I focused on helping him come up with good topic sentences and well thought out ideas so that his essay will be detailed and thorough. I feel frustrated that Turki is often late and doesn't seem to care that I am trying to tutor him and help him out. It is a great patience building experience and gives me an idea of what being a teacher is really like; that some of your students won't care about learning English very much. I was happy that we finished the outline by the end of our session! I found it difficult to explain to him what sounded "good" for the introduction. I showed him multiple examples and we went over what makes up an introductory paragraph, but it did seem like he wasn't putting in much effort for the essay for his class.
