I observed the 3A Grammar class with Hunter Pelt on January 25th. Hunter
was the first teacher I observed, and I was thoroughly impressed with how he
handled the classroom and taught with such enthusiasm. He introduced
the class with a partner activity and asked the students when the last time
they saw a mountain was. Since there were an uneven amount of students I had a partner
myself, Achman. During the activity, he mentioned that this class was going to
be run slightly different from the norm because of a paper that is due soon. Today,
they covered prepositions, and he introduced the lesson and gave a list of prepositions
and covered when to use each in detail. Then, he asked for a synonym of each
one. After, he dispersed National Geographic magazines and asked us to flip to
a page with a group of people in it. Next, he asked us to partner up and identify
where each person is in the picture using prepositions. Throughout the lesson,
he collected errors the students made while speaking with their partners, and
as the post lesson activity, wrote the errors on the board for students to collectively
correct themselves.
