I met with Kreem today at NSNX. He is preparing for the IELDS, although he still has a long time until his test. Kreem is a very motivated student, I can tell studying English is his main focus and priority. I encouraged him to start listening to movies in English on Netflix and use English subtitles if he needs to. Before this, he told me that he still watches movies in Arabic. I explained to him that if he wants to improve his fluency he needs to spend more time listening and producing different sentences. Kreem explained to me that he wants to move out of his apartment since he is living with only Arabic speakers who he feels may be holding him back. I thought this was a good idea if he wants to be immersed in the language. Today we worked on a writing prompt for the IELDS. I explained to him the idea of allocating time differently to prevent staying stuck on one part of the writing process. Kreem really did not want to make an outline using the bubbles, but I explained this is absolutely necessary. We were only able to get through one writing prompt and outline, so we will continue with writing prompts next week.
