I met Saad today at our usually spot. He wanted help with his essay for his writing class. His essay was on the topic of parents and the amount of time they should spend with their kids. Saad's essay was very good! His biggest mistakes were organizational. Many sentences did not seem to fit with the flow and meaning of the paragraph. We worked on creating a logical structure from sentence to sentence. I explained the concept of word connotation, about how certain words explained the specific nuance of an idea better than other words. Saad seemed to grasp the idea well. I was very impressed with his execution of connotation especially because this is such an advanced topic. We fixed the few grammar errors that he had. Saad is on his way to having an excellent essay.
