Kreem and I met at NSNX. He wants to improve his vocabulary and writing skills for the IELDS test. He said he needs help with an essay about his favorite teacher, Salem. He showed me his first draft, and his organization was all over the place. I asked him if he made a bubble chart beforehand, and he said that he does not know what a bubble chart is. I stressed how important organizational charts are, and then went through step-by-step and helped him come up with a plan for his essay. I taught him about the three paragraph, Intro, first, second, last, conclusion style essay. I explained proper use of transitions and a thesis statement. I went online and showed him different explanations of organizational structures of essays. I instructed him to go home and finalize his outline and try to make a first draft that I will grade for organization.
