Shani TS #13

     Today was Susan's first day of the new session. She's really excited about all of her new classes. For our session today, I found a video on YouTube that talked about the five rules to success. The was around 11 minutes, and I think that it was engaging and level appropriate. We watched the video twice. The first time, I just asked her to listen to it. I really wanted her to focus on understanding the main ideas of the video. The second time we watched it, I asked her to take notes on what she thinks is important. After that, I asked her to explain what the five rules to success are to me. She understood four out of the five, but she couldn't understand the main idea of what the last rule was. I liked doing this activity because it integrated listening, writing, and speaking skills into one. Susan said that she really enjoyed the TED Talk and I think it helped her with her listening especially.
