Shani TS #15
Susan had a very rough weekend. She found out that her dog back home in Colombia bit her father's arm, and he had to go to the hospital because the injury was so bad. For the first 20 minutes of our session, she explained to me what happened and told me about how worried she was. I knew that she would have trouble focusing on work with this on her mind, so I thought it would be best to do something fun to distract her. We ended up watching another episode of New Girl, and that made her very happy. We followed the same routine of pausing the show after every scene for a comprehension check, and we paused every time she heard a phrase she didn't understand. One of the new phrases she learned today is "pushing my buttons." Susan told me after our session was over that it was a nice distraction and that she was in a much better mood than before.
