Shani TS #9
I got to meet with Susan again today! I really enjoy working with her and seeing her English improve. I think that her main struggle is grammar. She understands, speaks, and writes coherently, but she makes a lot of grammar errors. So, today we worked on gerunds. We talked about the difference between a gerund and a present participle. We looked at sample sentences to identify which word is a gerund, and then I also had her write example sentences using a list of words she could use as a gerund. I think that by the end of our session, she had a very good grasp of what a gerund is, how to identify one in a sentence, and how to properly use them. I also explained to her the difference between the words by, for, and to because she used them interchangeably. I gave her scenarios for when she would use each individual word and I think she has a better understanding of them now.
