Taylor TS #15
On Tuesday afternoon 3/27 Mohammed and I met in the study lounge area of his apartment complex, which I found out he actually is moving out from and into a house on my side of town. He was trying to explain to me why, but I truly didn't understand if it was due to a bad situation or not. After about 10 minutes of trying to understand his explanations I still don't know why he had to move, but he seems to like the new situation. Today we went over a classic American college staple: the thesis statement. He is writing an essay for class with his chosen topic "vacation in Kuwait", so we went over different essay types and he identified his as the persuasive essay. He had a solid two main points already before meeting- tourist attractions and sports, but then decided to add another good one -culture- based on our conversation. He was continuously writing his ideas down, and I asked him to write me several different drafts of his thesis before we came to a good final stopping point. He was confused on why he had to include "to" in a part of the sentence "... why people want to visit Kuwait." So we went over expressing intention and hypothetical situations vs situations that are happening within the future tense.
