I keep trying to make scheduled appointments for when to meet with Turki, but he tends to text me about an hour or two before he wants to meet. He texted me thirty minutes before we were supposed to meet if I could meet him somewhere else. I definitely realized how American I am in my set scheduled ways because I felt he didn't value my time as much as his own because of this request. I, of course, didn't say anything, but simply stated I couldn't because the bus didn't go there. It is interesting to see how cultural differences influence interactions so much. We met in the lounge at CIES and I checked his homework from the gerunds and infinitives. It didn't seem like he really tried, or maybe that's why he was late. I only say that because when we worked on them last session, he seemed to really understand it. I went over his mistakes with him and got him to tell me what the mistake was. I thought this was a good way to get him to focus.
